I am a new CPAP user using a Flexifit mask that is very comfortable it seems. I have recently purchased a insulator hose to help with the drippings. I sleep in the basement and it is rather cold. I have my humidity set at a 2 with the Series 600 machine. Does the water have anythingto do with having to much pressure? I am ramping up to an 8 which I have been told is low. I feel like the mask is sucking off my face every night at the same time(also when the water seems to be dripping) ANy water suggestions for me??

Hi Marie,

Great to have you here. The water is a normal result of condensation that occurs when the warm moist air flowing through your cpap tube is exposed to cool room air on the outside. Turning up the heat in the room may help. Also putting the hose underneath your covers might help.

Have you tried that?
Don't fill the water up to the line...just a little below. Keep the CPAP machine lower than your nsleeping surface. It might be that simple.
Yup, placing your CPAP lower than your mattress definitely helps w/eliminating that condensation (we call it "rain out"). If that isn't practical hanging the hose above your head such as over your headboard or a hook on the wall also helps to reduce "rain out". Resmed makes a hose cover of an insulated slippery material that can help, if I remember correctly they call it the "Hose Buddy". Taking the hose under the covers w/you also can help.

When you say insulator hose, do you mean something like the Aussie Heated Hose? I've heard it works quite well tho it is expensive.
I've never had a problem with this water until recently when my mask broke and I had to use a different one while waiting for the new one to arrive. You might want to check on the exhaust vent of your hose/ mask.

The reason I was having a problem was that I had to use the adapter(?) from my old mask to fit this other mask to the hose. The adapter blocked the vent on the temporary mask which kept the moisturefrom my exhaled breath escaping.

just a thought.
Thanks for the replies. I did try the hose insulator buddy thing. I fill the chamber half full and do have the machine at mattress height not below. Guess I will go out and try to find a lower table. This site is great!!!It has really encouraged me to make this work!!!The posts and questions are great!
i think we each get a little buzz whenever we can "turn someone around" who would otherwise give up on CPAP. it's a bit addicting.

I have just had my CPAP machine for two nights, and I am up awake at 12:30 am on my third. My mask also leaks water onto my face. It also makes a high pitched watery noise which I have confirmed does not come from the seal on my face. I have set my machine on the floor and my mother in law made me a custom double lined polar fleece hose insulator. To my disappointment tonight I still have a wet face. When I put my hand near the mask it is like someone has one of the fans that mist the air. The setting on my humidifier is only two. I even tuned the heat up to 75 degrees in my room, but nothing has worked. I am going to call the respironics rep who set up my system tomorrow for the second time. I am very frustrated and near to telling her to take it back. I am getting no sleep! Any other ideas on this issue?
Try turning the humidifier down even more try 1. If that doesn't help, try using the humidifier in passover mode. That means do not turn it on and let the air blowing over the water pick up what it will hold without heating the water. I use just a passover mode and like it much better than when I have the humdifier turned on.

Like Duane said, watch your fill line. I had the high pitched noise once when I filled it too much. Do not fill the water over the line and try it a little lower.
