Can someone help me with the acronyms that appear in the report my machine produces?
AHI---This I believe stands for Apnea/Hypopnea Index (units are incidents per hour)
AI-----Apnea Index (units are incidents per hour)
HI-----Hypopnea Index (units are incidents per hour). These are what is called Central Apneas, right?
NRI---"I" is for index. What does NR stand for?
Here is an example from my report:
Average AHI: 7.4 per hour
Average AI: 0.6 per hour
Average HI: 6.8 per hour
Average NRI: 3.7 per hour.
With an AI of 0.6, it looks like my machine is doing a pretty good job
Questions? What happens during a central apnea? Is a CPAP machine smart enough to deal with this kind of incident, or is it totally useless? And again, what does NRI stand for? Is an NR incident something different from an obstructive apnea or from an hypopnea?
