ResMed slimline CPAP tubing compatible with Respironics CPAP machine???

Went to my DME yesterday to check out new masks.  Did not like the one she showed me so sticking with the old.  However the RT asked if I wanted a new hose.  I said "sure" as I thought it would be good to have a spare. She gave me  ResMed slimline.  I loved it.  But now I wonder (and after looking around on the internet) if it should be used with my machine.  I have a Respironics~not a Resmed.  Any thoughts???

Ginny, I don't see why the Slimline hose would not work with your machine.

check to make sure its the same diameter as the Respironics tube, either 15mm or 22mm. If its the same should not be an issue.

Last thought and it cant be a 15mm  (heated) climate tube by Resmed.

It is definetly a different diameter than th eone that I was given with the machine.

Just looked at CPAP>COM and they say the slimline only works with the ResMed machine.  Wonder if THEY are correct?

Guess I'm wrong and the diameter does make a difference.  Sorry.
Hi Mary~ Now I am really confused.  I looked at the booklet that came with my machine and it says either 15 or 22 diameter but has to be set for which one.... I think???  Going to the DME tomorrow with machine and tubing in hand and see what they say>  Have to return the mask I can't stand!

Sounds like checking with the DME makes the most sense.  Keep us posted.  Hope the mask gets taken care of tomorrow.
Went to my DME with tubing in tow.  No RT there to ask my question BUT the billing person said it was compatible with my machine.   :)  SO, do I believe she really knows............Guess I will try and see what happens.  I did  find last night that respironics does make a 15 mm tube also.  SO hopefully this is ok to use.If my machine burns up or I die of oxygen deprivation I guess I will know.  I looked all over my machine and no where can I find the model # to confirm whether it will truly work or not!

The ResMed SlimLine small diameter air tube has been designed to minimize the inconvenience associated with bulky tubing – when compared to most traditional tubing, the SlimLine tube is 40% lighter, 14% thinner and takes up 35% less space, so that’s probably why it feels more comfortable than traditional tubing.

In addition, we provide standard ends on the SlimLine tube so that it can be used with any mask, but there’s a tradeoff involved –  your CPAP machine must be specifically designed/set for the thinner tube, to respond to your body’s needs when using the smaller diameter tube.  For our machines, the entire S9 series can accept traditional tubes or the new SlimLine tube.

so is it hurting my Resperonics machine to be using this slimline tubing by ResMed?  I am now away on vacation and I only took the smaller tubing.  Will be used for 4 nights. Does this mean I need to re-ask my DME about using it with my machine?  Darn~they were the one's that gave me this tubing.  Now I don't know what I can trust that they tell me.  If they give me the same answer as on Friday I think I am going to search out a new DME. I have searched all over the internet and can not find where the model # is on my Resperonics machine!!!

Some competitive flow generators do support the smaller diameter tube, but you need to consult your owner’s manual or local DME to determine your specific machine’s capabilities.  If the model supports the smaller diameter tube, your DME can verify the machine has been set for the smaller tube.

In any event, the smaller tube is unlikely to compromise the integrity of your CPAP machine; however, setting the device for the tube diameter will ensure you receive optimal sleep therapy.

Thanks so much.  When I return home from my trip I will call the DME again.  They are NOT very helpful.

P.S. I do like my Resmed mask. Now I wish I had a Resmed machine! APrreciate your helpfulness.
