I've been trying to lose weight, as i'm sure many of you have been also.  Saw somebody post this picture to Facebook to rejoice in a meal they had somewhere, and it kind of turned my stomach.  Maybe it will have the same appetite-curbing effect on you.

 fish oil swallow ,

ackk urp ,owww my arm hurts ..stop sitting on my chest .

Mike, You say you are trying to lose weight. I take the key word to be "trying" meaning you are unsuccessful. Then you post a photo of animal fats and protein.

If you are eschewing animal fats and protein, you are very likely to fail at controlling your weight and triglycerides.

If you have significant amounts of carbohydrates in your diet, you may be experiencing big swings in blood sugar and insulin levels which is damaging your body and mind and making it very difficult to control weight.

Yesterday I had two eggs fried in butter and three ounces of walnuts for breakfast, a 13-ounce burger for lunch, and a very large serving of slow hickory-smoked pork with some strawberries and a few grapes for dinner. I ate nothing with added sugar, no seed oils (corn, soybean, rapeseed) and just a little food made from flour.

This is my typical diet for 15 years and it is the way I lost weight and reduced my triglycerides to a healthy level.

.....and that the reason I turned vegan!

Banyon, no, I have had success in losing weight, and am trying to lose more.  Since Thanksgiving, I've gone from ~190 pounds to ~175 pounds today.  Keep in mind that I'm 6 feet tall, so by no means am i obese.  I'm just trying to be the fittest me I can be.  And no, I'm not avoiding animal fats and proteins.  For lunch today, I had a romaine salad at Chipolte with carnitas, salsa, peppers and onions, pinto beans, corn and a dollop of sour cream.  In fact, I have something dead on my plate just about every lunch and dinner of my life.  So I'm no extremist.  But I do think the foods depicted in the pictures I posted, when consumed in those quantities, are health hazards. 

Also, I don't know everything about nutrition -- still very much on the learning curve.   i'll check out the link you sent me.

Absolutely not Mike!

Super-size junk food and marijuana and should both be legal.

Using government force over what individuals do with their lives is immoral.

It is also a very bad and impractical thing for any society to have elites or majorities choosing what individuals can and cannot do (as long as those individuals are not infringing on the rights of other individuals).
