during the sleep study my oxygen level went down to 82 % , when on cpap how would you know your oxygen levels ? how do you really know the cpap is working. am finally getting used to it being on my face and air blowing in but how do i know it is working ? do i get something to measure my oxygen level during the night and which one would be the one to buy.

thanks

My physcian has had me have 2 over night pulse ox tests since starting in Mid March with CPAP.  I would ask your doctor.  There is usually no charge for this (at least my DME does not charge)

have an appointment with my sleep doctor on the 23 rd of this month so will ask him, i do know i have been sleeping much better this week ,then i have in years so something is working. not waking up if i can even sleep with headaches or feeling like i have been in a fight all night and lost . have not been taking hours to fall asleep, still waking up when the mask leaks but that does not happen that much.

thanks

I am having difficulty finding the right pillow to sleep on.  Have bought two at approx. $50 each and hate both.  :(

The ConTec CMS-50D+ or CMS-50E are popular recording oximters at a very reasonable price including the software. Usually around $100-$150. They are FDA approved.

I understand that Wal-Mart and Wallgreens both carry recording oximeters in the $100-$150 range.

Do you feel better Ernestine? Do you fell like your sleep is improving? The titration portion of your study should have shown proof that the pressure were sufficient to maintain your o2 levels.

oh yes i am sleeping so much beter, had forgot how good a nights sleep feels, this is the best week i have had since starting the cpap,

i think i have arrived !

i see what most of you on this website means about the difference. this is the first time in a couple of years i have had a weeks worth of  good nights sleep in a row.

the first week i was using the cpap was really bad, the 2nd week was alittle better but not much, this 3rd week has been so much better

the titration portion did show much improvment in my oxygen level , i guess i am afraid to get my hopes up with this, i just lost a very dear friend to this illness this week , she was not aware she had it , she had severe pain and was taken to the hospital and they gave her percsoset for pain and told her to go see her obgyn first thing monday morning , monday morning her husand went into her room to wake her up and she was not breathing, she was rushed to the hospital again and died the next day , the doctor questioned her husband and from what he had told them they determined she took the percoset and went to sleep and not aware she had sleep apnea her throat closed up and she had a massive heart attack from the stress of not getting the oxygen.

she was only 42 years old.and in good health , she was overweight though .
