I've been absolutely delighted w/this Quattro FX full face mask. Its the most leak free mask I've used since starting PAP. I almost never have whisper, hissing type leaks. If I have a leak its a rip-roaring face fart heard round the room!

For some reason last night I could NOT get a proper seal. I washed my face immediately before bed instead of some time before going to bed was the only change in "routine". I slept on and off from 10:45 until 1:30 and then just gave up fighting w/ole Quattro FX and switched to just my 2L of 02 no mask and no VPAP and slept from 1:30 to 5:15 this morning. Decided I'd try the Quattro again and I'll be darned if not a leak, not a hiss, not a whisper out of it, fit right the first time and back to sleep I went until 6:30.

Go figure!

Do you ever have a night like that?? A mask thats fit beautifully and worked well for you for months - and then one night it decides to give you a rough time and won't seal for beans - only to put it back on and have it fit like glue to your face a few hours later or the next night?

I swear that Quattro FX had a mind of its own last night!!!!

The INTERESTING side note was when I downloaded my oximetry data I had LESS pulse events sleeping w/just the 2L of 02 than I did sleeping w/the Quattro FX and VPAP. I have to assume due to the constant leaks and arousals w/the mask and VPAP??

I have just trialled a Quattro FFM and had mixed results. I have a beard which complicates things somewhat.

What I found was sometimes it was great and other times it leaked badly and unless I woke up properly and turned the machine off, I couldn't get it to seal. (As I said I'm new to this and I guess this may be common to all masks).

My sleep specialist told me the results showed major leakage and has advised me to remove my beard.

I am going to try a nasal pillow before doing anythine drastic like removing my beard as if I don't snore I will be allowed back in my wifes bed, but she likes my beard. lol

Hey, Wayne, check out White Beard at apneasupport.com  He has a tremendous full white beard that rivals Santa Claus and he does well on PAP. He's a great guy and will share any tips he has.
