A smell like from garlic is being emitted from the water chamber. of a ResMed . I have washed it with soap and water and then with vinegar and water. The smell disappears. But when I attach the hose to the mask and turn the machine on, the smell returns. My husband has verified the smell. I call the clinician from Res Med and they will send me a new machine saying that it has to be disassembled to find out if a mold or short circuit is the cause. Has anyone heard of this before?

I had a musty smell coming through my mask. Washed everything, vinegar, soap and water in the water chanmber. Same thing the next night. I smelled my distilled water and the odor was coming from there. Never happened before or since. I'm not sure how long it takes me to go through a gallon- maybe 10 days, so the water wasn't really old.
I found out that the smell came from the bottle of distilled water. I had the vendor give me a replacement machine before finding out. I put the same water in the new water tub and the same smell occurred. I don't know why I didn't think of it first. Thanks for the tip! Now I will always smell the bottle of distilled water first. Thanks
Sandy
Hi Sandy,
Was the water from a large distiller? If so you may want to contact them so they can check the rest of that lot. Glad to hear you are not reporting any illnesses from it. Good Sleep,Chris
I never would have thought to smell the distilled water. Hummmm, it takes me two months or more to use a gallon as I run the humidifier in pass over mode and sometimes it runs without water and I don't notice it. I never thought about the water getting "old" or going bad.
Thanks. I will remember this tip.

I had unexplained nausea for two weeks that I attributed to a change in meds. The water is from Poland Springs. I still have the bottle with a very small amt of water in it. I don't know how to find out about the lot. I'll ask my drt-in-law. She's a lawyer.
Thanks
Sandy
Contact information for the company is on the label. Call them and tell them about this. They will tell you where to look on the label for the lot number or identifying information. The sooner you do this the better for all who have bought the distilled water from this particular lot or batch.
Don't put the company on the defensive by having someone identified as a lawyer being the first contact about this. Give them the opportunity to identify and rectify the mistake.
