nasal pillows hurting and wake up congested
Hello,
I am new the the Cpap. I am using the XS nasal pillows. For the first 2 days everything was fine. Then the last 2 days, I have been waking up congested and my nostrils are hurting. I have tried adjusting the mask and the humdifier. Is there anything else I can do???

Does your Cpap Machine have an option for a "Heated Tubing/ cpap hose"? If so that would increase the amount of humidification being delivered to your airway via the airway.
The other thing you could give a try is use the "small, or the Medium pillow" to allow the air to flow slightly slower. The smaller the opening in the pillow, the faster the air has to flow to deliver the set pressure.
The third thing you may try is to buy some 'water soluable gel' i.e. Aquafer- from CVS or Walgreens, or any drug store. Just place the gel on the exterior of the nare where the pillows rest.....

Maybe not enough humidity. Start the air flow then gently put the pillows in place shifting side to side until no leaks, make straps as loose as you can and still seal. Ayr saline gel good lubricant. Use saline- only nasal spray liberally if needed for dryness until you get the humidity right (I use #4) If water collects in nasal pillows, probably too hi a humidity setting.
