I think everyone should be clear on the fact that there is no "cure" for sleep apnea. Yet. I had a doctor, an ENT, tell me he could cure me of my severe sleep apnea. He was going to break my jaw in four places and move it. Carve out the back of my tongue and cut who knows what in my throat. For me, I could not call that a cure. It would have required a six week hospital stay and I doubt that my insurance company would have covered it. CPAP/Bipap works and it works very well as a therapy for obstructive sleep apnea. I want to implore everyone to do whatever you have to do to make CPAP work for you. Try a hundred different masks if you have to but make it work. Once you do it will make a huge difference in your life. I promise.

I recently evaluated a pt with a trach. He still snored. Craziest thing.

That is crazy because my understanding is that a trach is a "cure" but about as unacceptable as what my ENT wanted to do.
How in the world do you snore with a trach?

He was a big guy. If you don't take care of yourself nothing you do will matter.
