My Story

I'm marrying the love of my life on May 14th 2011 in a Pirates vs Ninjas themed wedding. My fiance, Derek (D as I usually refer to him online), has pretty severe sleep apnea. During his sleep study they found he stopped breathing twice a minute. In the two hours he slept he stopped breathing 234 times. Thankfully, his desire to get good, restorative sleep has pushed him to continue with his cpap therapy when he felt like he wanted to give up.

Through the help of many online resources and a late night crafting session where I turned an old tee shirt into a quick and dirty version of RemZzzs (which was a great success in stopping his air leaks) we're getting the hang of living with OSA and cpap therapy.

I loved this man enough to deal with his intense snoring before so it's easy to continue to love and support him through this. I'll take cpap sounds over snores any day. It's only been a few weeks since he got his machine but I lay in bed with him sleeping and put my hand on his side. The feeling of the constant rise and fall is the greatest feeling in the world.

That's why I'm on here. For him.
