thanks -- hadn't heard of it before. if you go to "settings" under your name on your profile page, you can add your zip and it will automatically post the city and state to your profile page.

I was wondering -- you state that your husband's sister has apnea. Is she using a machine and if so could you find out the complete name of it?

Based on your description, it's extremely likely that both your husband and son have sleep apnea, perhaps severe sleep apnea. for your son who has health insurance, he should see a sleep specialist if there's one in your area, or if not, a pulmonologist, and go for an overnight sleep study. if your husband doesn't have insurance, maybe he should ask the same doctors for a home test --- those cost a couple of hundred dollars. he can also go out of pocket for a good cpap machine for ~$400. i know it adds up quickly, but you could be saving him years of his life. untreated sleep apnea increases risk of diabetes, stroke, heart disease, hypertension and death. you should ask your husband's sister to join the site --- this kind of stuff is very likely genetic.

Hi Loretta,

Welcome. Who do you know who may have sleep apnea, and why do you think so?

Mike
