I use the ResMed Activa. I really like it. I've tried the full face mask and one other I can't remember.

Wow! What a great story. I am going through this with my 6 year old daughter. She had her tonsils taken out right after school ended for the summer. She doesn't start school until after Labor Day, but I'm anxious and nervous to see the results. Her…

Oh, this is such a sad story and it hits me hard. My father had sleep apnea. He was obese and he died of a heart attack in his sleep. He was 47, so my brother and I were both in college already. I can't imagine what you are going through without him…

I'm mild. My hubby, who is on here, but probably won't answer is moderate.

Use whatever kind of mask works best for your comfort. There is nothing wrong with using a full-face mask, if that works OK for you. Don't worry about ResMed's HI and AHI numbers as long as they are below 15 (but preferably below 10). The main thing…

Sometimes if a full face mask is on to tight it can cause your jaw to slide backwards and your throat to start to shut or obstruct. The mask should be just tight enough to seal , but not so tight that it leaves marks. Try lying down before you put y…

I knew my husband needed to be tested for years. I finally convinced him and at the same time, my mother told me that my father's depression was helped when he went on CPAP. I have depression and fatigue, so I decided to get tested at the same time.…

Well the AHI seems a little high, Too bad that you where switched off the mask so quick, well I think if this company that you are working with should help you as much as possible. there is a 30 day period where most manufacturers will take the mask…

I'm not feeling better yet. Well, not consistently. I was able to get up this morning, but was back in bed an hour later. My insurance covers a new mask every 3 months and I passed the ten day mark to return this one. Maybe if I asked, I don't reall…

Dispite the numbers for now, are you feeling better at all? Why will your supplier not allow you to switch back? What are your machine settings? Are you looking at this data on a download from the rescan software on your computer? Gerry

Unfortunately, I just recently figured out how to read this info. Before I figured it out, I thought that I was mouth breathing because I was waking up with a dry mouth. So, I tried a chin strap and it was painful for me. I already have jaw issues.…

Elaine, Why did you make the switch? Mask Leaks occur much more often with a full face mask thus, is you are leaking more you will report more hyponeas. What is the average leak on your report has that gone up. Are there any other increase that you…

I have changed the mask type in the clinical menu to Mirage full. I have the Mirage Quattro and the RedMed s8 Autoset with humidifier.

Elaine, What machine are you using? I am wondering if it might have something to do with the mask setup with the machine. I know with my Resmed S8 (s), you need to enter the mask type (i.e; FF, nasal, etc.) you are using so the unit can auto adjust…

There are a number of possibilities. If you have a ResMed device, it wants to know what type of mask you are using, so it can calculate the numbers a little differently. Some people feel that when you switch from a nasal to a Full Face Mask, you sho…

Hi Elaine, I'm near Saginaw. Saginaw has a pretty good local apnea support group at Covenant Healthcare's Mackinaw campus, corner of Mackinas and Tittabawasee, not far from Fashion Square Mall. They are held from 6 PM to 8 PM. I think the next one is in June. I can't find my notes right now. If you might be interested let me know. Were you Dx'd w/apnea at Bay Medical?? My daughter works at PowerTrain in Bay City and I occasinally drive over and meet her for lunch at Wanigan's or Souper Cafe or Old City Hall and then go to the main library or court house for some genealogy research.

In delayed sleep phase syndrome, the internal biological clock runs longer than the normal 24-hour cycle, resulting in a desire to go to sleep later and wake up later. The plan of action? Resetting Merbaum's clock through the use of light therapy: d…

Honestly I believe that the medical industry should be controlled by parties from both the government and private sectors. Until someone comes up with a better solution I will continue to support licensure.

Carol right now those odds are slim. Those jobs just are not open to the RPSGT at this point. Not that I have found anyway. Most sleep programs are only available to RTs right now. We are fighting to put an end to this. The sleep programs should be…

Okay, first off, I would like to see you a little less passive. Why do you have to wait until the 24th of March for a nasal pillows style mask? That's ridiculous. There are several brands and models of nasal pillows style masks and you should have b…

What are the odds of the RSGPTS getting on at DME's and more interaction that is positive other than what many of us have experienced in the RTs or LPNS that have serviced us through the DMEs. I know in this region Lincare has an LPN you deal with.…

Update on my progress, still not using cpap, went to see a new specialist and he wants me to try pillows instead of the mask, does anyone have any input for me on pillows? Suppose to get my pillows on 3-24-2010, Wish me luck!

All I have left to say is that giving complete control to the private sector has worked well for our economy so far. Good luck in GA banyon. I hope that we are still friends. I will continue to follow and be educated by your post. Rock

I don't follow the logic that creating government licensing would take some of the control back from government. But there will be no energy spent by me to stop the effort in NY. Eventually it may come around to GA, as our historically independent…

It is my opinion that every lab should employ an RT. Just due to the nature of what we do. If that RT happens to be double certified for sleep then that is a bonus in my opinion. On the same note DMEs should have to employ a RPSGT as well as a RRT.…
