This may sound like a stupid question but if so many of our problems are due to sleep apnea which is "cured" for many of us with CPAP machines then why don't we become less tired, more awake, lose weight, etc.? Nothing I have read addresses this and I can't seem to get a satisfactory answer from my doctor.

Perplexed,

Janie

Janie,

Most of us don't consider machines with data capability and software "special". For me, it is just the very basic thing I need to have a good therapy. Anything less is just not satisfactory.

Some people compare it to a blood-glucose meter for the diabetic. Do you think any sane doctor would fail to tell his diabetic patients to get a meter and check their level several times per day? Of course not.

Why then do sleep docs not tell their patients to get a machine with software and keep up with the effectiveness of their therapy? To me it is a type of insanity, hopefully a temporary insanity that will soon go away as sleep medicine begins to show some signs of a mature stage.

Best of luck to you and if you need any recommendations on machines and software just ask.

Good job, Janie.  Please do keep us posted or I will have to track you down. LOL!
