I seem to have done something so that I can't get any read out for the last two days. On the 14th I used the smart card reader for the first time to see how I was doing with a new mask. I was able to get a read out from my last visit to the doctor in April thru the 14th. I have tried to get a read out for the 15th and 16th, but the computer tells me it only has info thru the 14th. As best I know I have put the smart card in correctly.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

you have to go back each time there's new data on the card and affirmatively make the choice to download and copy that data off the smart card into the software once again. my guess is that you forgot to do that so that the data from the last 2 days hasn't yet been downloaded to your computer via the software. you can do this in the encore viewer software.

I hit the button for copy smart card reader...it then says copied successfully...and then says data available to the 14th.
you're sure you went to the little calendar icon on the bottom right half of the encore viewer screen and clicked on the 16th as the final date to run the report through?

The Resmeds have an Erase Data option. I don't know if the Respironics do or not.

Are you using Respironics EncoreViewer or EncorePro?. I have and older version of EncorePro not Vista compatible and the default my EncorePro is to erase the data. You have to set it to NOT erase data (which, of course, I did). W/Resmed's ResScan it is just the opposite. Default is to NOT erase data and you have to set it to Erase Data if that is what you want.
Les, great job downloading the data report. I'm attaching it below to throw open to the forum what might be wrong.

Les, as I understand it, your problem started on the 14th when your data report showed only a little bit of usage (and the results came back in red) when in fact you used it for quite a bit longer -- anyone know what might be going on here and why he doesn't have access to data after the 14th?:

I have read that the Respironics have a problem w/the number of "sessions" per night and too many masks off, or device turn offs will lose data.

The other thing is that the M Series is known for dropping data as much as one or two nights a month. There's been a lot of discussion about this at the cpaptalk forum and the general consensus was that it is the M Series devices NOT EncorePro or EncoreViewer. There were several "fixes" various members tried that worked for some, but not all. Several users had contacted Respironics about it and Respironics denied being aware of the problem to each of them.
Make sure that you change the setting so that the erase data is turned off.

M series machines are notorious for dropping data. I have the M series machine and every so often data is missing. Sometimes it is just a day sometimes two. In my experience it isn't consistent -- like every 6 or 7 days -- just kind of random every so often.

The newer M series may or may not have had the problem corrected as I have had my machine since August of 2007.
I think I may have an answer. I'm not sure where I found it, but I read that you should wait 15 minutes after you turn off the machine to take out the smart card. I tried it this morning and it seems to have worked. Will try it again tomorrow am.
You are right about waiting at least 15 minutes after shutting off your xPAP. That is such a habit after 2 1/2 years that I never even thought to mention that. Good luck.
