Hi Theresa, Congrats on joining this group. I just joined to encourage others to make sure either they themselves or perhaps loved ones get tested for Apnea and then stick with their CPAP Machine Therapy. My wife has been saying for several years that I did not sleep well, that I often stopped breathing, and that I would jerk and generally be a "mess" while trying to get a good nights sleep. I even asked my family doctor if I should have a sleep study. He said "NO" and he kept me on Lunesta for 4 and a half years. Then I had a near total "meltdown" this past March. I missed nearly a week of work. Another doctor I went to (for a colonoscopy no doubt!) asked me if I had ever had a sleep study. They arranged one for me the next day and found I was truly a mess. It's been nearly 4 months now with my CPAP machine and I feel a complete turn around. I stopped taking 4 meds my "former" family doctor had me on. So make sure your loved one gets a sleep study and on CPAP therapy. It is extremely unhealthy and dangerous to avoid treatment. All the best to you and your family member. Brad in Petoskey
