read your post about having and using the PowerSource 400. Is that a pure sine wave power inverter? If not, then what kind of power inverter is it? How do you use it specifically? I mean, do you just plug in your cpap machine to it and plug the PowerSource 400 into an electrical outlet? I need to know the specifics, okay. I am trying to decide the best way to go to have a battery back. I live in Houston, Texas where we can have some lengthy power failures due to storms. Hurricane Ike hit last year and I went without power for several weeks. What is your opinion of this. My cpap machine provider says purchasing a battery backup is impractical because non of them will last longer than a few hours in spite of all the quotes to the contrary. I am a newbie and it is all very confusing. I appreciate your advice. Thank you very much.

The PowerSource 400 is not a true sine wave, it is a simulated sine wave. But, both my CPAP machine and Humidifier state that they can be used on such inverters. So, yes, I plug my CPAP and Humidifier into the PowerSource 400, and that into an electrical outlet.

During summer storm season, there were two occasions where the power went out in the evening and remained out when I finally went to bed. And, it was about 4 and 6 hours, respectively, before power finally did return. The PowerSource 400 had no problems keeping the CPAP/humidifier running during the outage.

It did so well that first outage, that I got another PowerSource 400 to backup a computer....a much bigger load that my CPAP/humidifier...and it kept the computer running during the duration of the second outage.

As for longer outages, I don't really have a plan on what to do....guess I just hope that there isn't another ice storm like there was a couple years ago. I wasn't on CPAP then.
