There is a post in the discussion area from one that has recently underwent the surgery. He has his story on his blog and you might benefit from reading it.
Read everything you can about the surgery prior to having it. Not wanting to discourage you, but many times it is only a temporary fix and doesn't always resolve the sleep apnea. Post in the discussion section about any questions you have and members that have underwent this hopefully will respond. Dr. Park is a good member and he often will give thoughtful insight on treatment options.
Jeannie -- here's a start for your search for people who have had surgery for sleep apnea. Also, do a search in the upper right search field for anything by "Sha" -- she had some major jaw surgery. You can also do a search for jaw surgery, UPPP, tonsillectomy, surgery, etc., and get a lot of information from people on here who have posted about their experiences with surgery and sleep apnea.
You may want to try different medications. I use trazodone. It relaxes you so you can sleep. Then two times a week I use Temazepam 15 MG tablet. I sleep pretty good between the two of them. I have a terrible time using the mask!!!
