Wow! Quite a welcome to this forum, Judy. Didn't realize I'd be under a microscope about the brand or style of my CPAP machine. My question was, and still is along the lines of getting advice about entering the field of Polysomnography, without having to become an RT first. Also, by the way, my CPAP machine is a rem-star auto from Respiratronics. I yse a medium size nose mask, and my pressure setting has wavered between 8-12 over the past year:)
Thanks for all of your help. You seem to have a good understanding of ResMed equioment nomenclature which still has my head spinning. I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that short of reading the machine's display there is no other way to get data from the machine. Wouldn't a wireless connection, or even a USB port, be nice. But eventually I would like to get a newer machine which would give me the ability to examine my sleep data.
I have been on BiPap for two year since beiing diagnosed with "severe" OSA. They therapy has been like having the aging process reversed. I have energy again! But I suspect I really don't need 18 blowing into my body all night long and bloating me like a balloon. I believe there is technology out there that will adjust to my needs as I sleep.
Well I work for the American Sleep And Breathing Academy. I help with the education of the Sleep Techs and I also work on the magazine Sleep And Wellness. That is a tool to teach the general public about sleep apnea.
