If Machine Being Used, What Type? (e.g., Respironics M Series with A-Flex Auto-Adjusting CPAP)
I use night time oxygen and the doctors want me to use c-pap, too. I've been fighting it because I don't believe I have apnea. I'm a chronic insomniac and had 6 sleep studies over a period of years during which I slept a total of 3 hours. Now I have atrial fibrillations my docs say that using c-pap with oxygen will control(?) that. I don't believe it. The apparatus scares the heck out of me and I am a side-sleeper. Any side-sleeper comments?
If Mask Being Used, What Type? (e.g., ResMed Activa Nasal Mask)
Not yet, I'm still trying to get my nerve up. They fitted me wth on ethat c0vers nose and mouth and I'm afraid of the darn thing.
Nancy, as a fellow forum member I would like to welcome you to SleepGuide. I hope you enjoy the discussions and become a regular contributor.
I suggest you post your comments under your profile as a new discussion. These profiles are not read by many members and you will get much more feedback if you post your comments as a new discussion. Good Luck. There is a link between sleep apnea and atrial fib. The CPAP may well help you get that under control. Don't be scared of the machine and mask, they can take some adjustment, but nothing motivation can't overcome. I am a side sleeper and don't find it to be a problem. I just sleep with my mask (I use the big Total Face Mask) sort of hanging over the pillow, but with many of the masks or nasal pillows that would not be necessary. Mary Z.
Nancy post your comments about sleeping with the mask and o2 as a new discussion and you should get more feedback. Also check ouy ymmits post "Hello everone- new here".
Good luck, it can be done and you can get some hints on how. One idea is to wear the mask during the day while doing somehing relaxing to help you get used to wearing it.
