try for a auto pap or apap as they are called and be determind and gently persusausve in your demanding and this will save a lot of grief latter on and save you money in the long run
try and get the presribing physion to include the clinians guide as well
APAP IS auto and can record your apnea, air leaks and a host of other things
cpap is Continuoius Air Pressure and not much use in recording except for complience
Allison, once you get back real (REM) sleep, then you can conquer many things like weight loss. Hope you stay with it for at least 3 months, 6 even better.

Allison, glad you're finally getting your follow up. Unfortunately I think your experience is the norm. The doctor has to get the results look them over, dictate a report, and sign off on it before they see you. Only my experience mind you. It's funny how their lack of urgency can contribute to the feeling that sleep apnea is no big deal.

Allison, don't get discouraged about not getting you machine today. For most of us there is a time between getting insurance authorization and the DME having your machine in stock and arranging a trip to your home. It would have been great had it happened toay, but hang in there if it takes longer.

The dme companies have contracts with the different ins companies and the ins companies contract for a specific amt. It's possible that one insurance co will contract for a mask for 50. while another will contract for 250...the dme co really doesn't have an option where this is concerned. Since the online companies aren't dealing with insurance companies, they can price their products according to the amt of profit they want and can price lower.
