Hi Maxine! Welcome to SleepGuide! We're happy to have you join us. SleepGuide is made up of a whole lot of apnea patients with a good mix of sleep MDs and other sleep professionals who donate their time and energy to help us patients out with information. I think you'll find everyone on here VERY supportive and willing to share any information they have.
I have no clue about custom apnea masks. But I'm gonna make a pretty good guess that someone on here does. It may be tomorrow before you get a response to that particular question, but there WILL be a reply. I'm so happy that you came here for info and support. I've been on SG for about 4 months and I don't think I could have made it this far, and stayed in treatment if it weren't for the great people on SleepGuide. They really do care and want to help. So hang in there and try to be patient till we can chase down someone who knows more than I about what you're looking for.
i don't know very much about custom mask. i prefer that manufacturers over the custom ones that i have seen. I have yet to actually hear any feedback on any of them.
Post a discussion with your questions concerning Centrals. i am sure that several people would be very interested in helping you.
Good morning, Maxine--hey, I agree with Rock, you may get more replies if you post a Discussion headed with "I need help with Central/Complex sleep apnea". That will pull people who actually have the same diagnosis and/or those who know more about it than some of us.
Good luck--let me know if you need any assistance or if you aren't finding the info you need.
Hi Maxine--glad to see you updating and moving along with us! Dr. Steven Park, M.D., who is a sleep specialist out of New York and a Sleep Guide member, is trying to reach you. I spoke with him about your concerns--he's an excellent, knowledgeable, and very caring sleep doc, and would like to speak with you. If you don't hear from him shortly, feel free to contact him. He welcomes interactions with all of us.
You can find his SG Page by looking at the top righthand corner of your own Page. Type in Steven Park, M.D. and click the litltle spyglass--it'll take you to his page and you can leave him a message there if you'd like. The message place is under his picture, says send a message and has a sealed envelope on it. Click there to send a private message just to him. OR you might consider (I think I may have suggested this earlier), posting a new Discussion stating in the title that you have Central/Complex Sleep Apnea.
There's so much action on Discussions this a.m. that your highlighted Discusssion topic has already moved down from current discussions. I don't want you to get lost in the shuffle.
You can certainly contact me as well, or anyone else who you run across on SG. Just click on any name you want on Discussion and that person will pop up for you to leave a message. OR you can leave a reply by clicking on "replied" which will take you directly into the thread, as will clicking on the Discussion title as well.
Hi Maxine, Welcome to Sleepguide! You will find great help here on the site, we welcome you and hope you will continue to come back and ask all your questions!! WHen I first started I read all the posts I could, just to gain as much info about OSA and CSA that I could. bee
I had to work at it too, Maxine, when I first came on. It's actually laid out quite well, but there's a LOT
to look at. You'll get it figured out, no doubt in my mind. If you need any help, let me know.
('Course that assumes I know what I'M doing! lol )
Glad you're here. Did Dr. Park ever find you? or vice versa? If not yet, he'll be around--he's a great
doc and just a really caring man, as are nearly all the folks on SG.
We are a group of patients and professionals that, although we can not diagnose nor treat any medical conditon via the internet, can offer suggestions and tips to help struggling patients become more compliant using their cpap machines, provide moral support for those that seek other means of treating their apnea.
There are many sleep disorders besides sleep apnea and many times two or more sleep disorders coexist for patients. Treating your sleep apnea may improve your other sleep disorders, though for some that doesn't hold true.
With the help of sleep apnea forums such as SleepGuide helped me to become 100% compliant and improve my over all health. SleepGuide is here to help the struggling patient improve their quality of life. They accomplish this with the help of volunteer forum members. Please feel free to join "our" family and ask questions, make comments, suggestions, ideas, and make friends while learning about various sleep disorders and their treatment.
