I have sleep apnea, and it did take maybe a week or so to get used to the CPAP device. I love it now. My husband was having to go into another room to sleep before I got it. I could never have a roommate when traveling. This has truly changed my life. In the sleep study I had, my oxygen levels got down to 70 percent. They tell me that's really dangerous. They should be above 90 percent. There was one point where I did not breathe for 55 seconds. Sometimes I would get up 5 or 6 times to go to the bathroom. The doctor told me that my body thought I was going into cardiac arrest, and so released fluid into my bladder. Anyway. All the bad stuff has been relieved with the CPAP. I've had it since the first of September, 2008. I've had a couple of problems- one with the moisture level, and since we keep our bedroom unheated, I've knitted a 'sleeve' for the hose. I've also turned the moisture level down from 3 to 2.5 to now being 2.0 That seems to have solved that problem. Two, the mask I was using caused marks on my face. The doctor said to make wider cheek cushion. I haven't done that yet, but will. The CPAP has really made a difference in my life.

Understandably I had to fool around with the adjustment of the straps, and the nasal cushions. I was able right from the beginning to quickly relax after I got everything adjusted. I can't say my life is totally turned around since the CPAP, because I have arthritis in my right hip, and recently I broke my left arm. But it certainly has helped me sleep better.
