Sore Tongue

I am in a sleep study group for sleep apnea through the VA.  They furnished a ResMed Auto II cpap machine for me.  I awake at night and feel like my outer cheeks are a vacuum that pulls parts of the sides of my tongue into gaps remaining from some extracted teeth.  The sides of my tongue become very sore, and when I open my mouth, the small parts on the side of my tongue are wedged into the gaps and must be pulled out by opening my mouth.  Anyone else have this happen?  What to do about it?

This is the first time I have heard of that. My only thought is to have your pressure setting re-evaluated. If your cheeks are blowing out and "sucking" at the sides of your tongue, perhaps your pressure is too high and filling your mouth and pushing your tongue and cheeks out. I have had a patient bite himself in his sleep and bleed into his mask. In that case the mask was pushing part of his cheek into his mouth where his teeth could grab hold. We fit him for a new mask and he is fine now. I hope someone has had experience with this and can help you.
