My oldest daughter was showing signs of having ADHD. We had her toncils and adnoids removed in January. She is now doing great. My baby however snores. Oy the anxiety of a sleep tech.
My dd's psychiatrist is a firm believer in ruling out OSA before starting meds. Unfortunately for my dd all it did was prolong the enevitable, because just like her Mom, she had both. Thankfully after a septoplasty it took care of her OSA (she already had T&A). I think she was the only person I have ever me that was actually MAD that we didn't put her on cpap! (Mom and dad both had cpap, why not here too) We both have just ADD, No H involved :) But I know I have been doing studies on kids because the doctors are finally figuring out that OSA and ADD/ADHD have the same syptoms. (I had to explain to our pastor why the doctor was having their son go for a PSG... the doctor didn't explain any of it. He even said to me 'why didn't she just tell us that?')
This was the case with my son. After 6 months of struggling to breath, he had his adnoids and tonsils removed and things got immediately better. No one would ever guess that he was a hyper kid at one time. He has also caught up growth wise.
