I am feeling tired all day.  Have had sleep tests and been diagnosed with sleep apnea plus random leg movements 400 times a night.

Am using CPAP from Resmed and it helps little.

Main problem is prescription insurance declines help with $900 for 30 Provigil.  I thought Medicare had approved Provigil for Sleep Apnea sufferers.  Have taken Provigil for 6 months and it is wonderful but a Dr. needs to make a special request periodically to insurance to extend.  Insurance has just declined again!!  'Tis a BUMMER!!

Insurance authorization depends on your Part D carrier.  I took four years of Provigil/Nuvigil

for my daytime sleepiness to resolve and it seems to be returning.

I know this is not the best solution, but there are other drugs available for excessive daytime sleepiness and perhaps your doctor can give you a break and prescribe one of these.  Provigil gave me my life back, I feel your pain.  There are also meds for restless leg syndrome which may help you get better sleep.  Good luck.

Have the doctor resubmit that request for authorization.

How much sleep do you think you average a night?

I have found a website--theusarx.com--that promotes a Provigil generic.  It claims to be a US pharmacy and Provigil generic is offered at approx. $1.50 per pill.  That would be fabulous.

Has anyone heard about a qualified Provigil generic?  Has anyone tried a Provigil

generic?

I probably average 6-7 hours per night.  CPAP helps for prolonged periods of sleep.

That's not enough. The average person needs 7-8 hours of sleep. Prior to starting PAP your sleep was less than quality. For this reason you built up sleep debt that needs to be paid off. Sleeping the same amount will not do this. Try sleeping an extra half hour for 2 weeks.

Have you tried to address the leg movements?

Cpap isn't going to necessarily help those and Provigil will only mask the problem.  I would work with the doctors and try to address the leg movements to see if that helps.
