Has anyone had this?  I am interested (since I am such a chicken when it comes to surgery)  Trying to find MD in Western part of North Carolina and so far no luck!

Have an appointment tomorrow with ENT in near by town of Sylva NC!  Hoping for the best~

ahhhh, Mike.  I didn't need to hear that.  But the way it is now I am up at least twice a night with one side completely closed up.  Otherwise I am actually sleeping well with the PAP.  Guess I will have to do something and what else is there except a trach?

I am hoping for coblation procedure with no stents/packing.  Appointment is tomorrow at 2:10!  Will let you know what Doc has to say.  He is originally from California!

I know what you mean.  The thought of packing/stents gives me feelings of claustrophobia.  aI hope it is not another dead end like my oral appliance.  I know it will not "fix" the OSA but hope will make using CPAP better.  Crap...I do not tike this road...........

On a positive note Ginny, my turbinate procedures was a big improvement for me :)  I had the first turbinate procedure done to shrink them, but unfortunately this improvement didn't last long (about 3 months).  I then had to go back for a turbinectomy and at the same time had a deviated septum repairs.  This was the way forward for me.....I can now freely breathe through my nose and it's made CPAP therapy more comfortable and less hypopnoeas, giving me a lower AHI.  All I do now is use a Breathe Right Strip on a night - no more sprays etc.

Try your best to find someone who, like Dr Park, doesn't use the packing though, as that was the worst part of the whole procedure - and it was horrible having them removed!

Thanks kathy~Looking with anticipation  my appointment this afternoon.

Surgery scheduled for Monday March 12th.  I am a nervous wreck.  :)  Coblation of turbinates, spur taken care of and endoscopic guided septoplasty.  Done on Monday and follow up on Thursday.  This surgery is supposed to need less recovery time then the one I initially was scheduled for. Still have to be over night to monitor my sats (will probably need O2 at home until CPAP resumed.  He said could be in 1-2 weeks. I really liked this doctor and I felt confident after talking with him.  He spent time with me and  did not feel I was part of an assembly line!

Good News Ginny :)  If you're getting away without all the packing then you'll be fine, as I promise you that was the worst part.  I used CPAP from the first night of the operation, and it was when I was introduced to the FitLife mask, as there's no contact near the surgery.  However, I also found this was my ideal mask and have used it ever since.

At least you only have a few days to wait, so try not to worry.  It's good they'll be keeping you in overnight to monitor you too.

Thanks kathy.  He said he usually does not have to have packing and places a tsent in each nostril. I wish I was 'due" a new mask with my insurance coverage so I could try that mask.  But not due until 3/27. I asked him if I could have some xanax  :)  and he said "sure, I can be Dr. Feelgood for a week".  His wife is a nurse like me.

I have xanax "saved" from 2 years ago after my brother took his life. They sit in the closet......   I may take one .......   :)    I am worried about the post op part.  I do a daily exercise routine for my back pain (with much relief), and walk 40 minutes 5-6 days a week BRISKLY! I hate to have to curtail these for several days.  It is so easy to stop doing these things and is hard to make your self re start.  Like I said, I am a real wimp and worry wart.  Thanks for trying to make me feel better, Mike.
