Hey all -

I am just curious if anyone else has developed TMJ issues while using the CPAP? Being a former mouth breather, I never had any issues until I started using the CPAP. I spent an entire year using chin straps and tape to keep my mouth shut and train myself to breath through my nose. Ever since then I have had nothing but issues. Anyone else encounter the same thing? (I am no longer on CPAP - had MMA surgery 2+ years ago, but now have persisting problems.) I would love some pointers on helping ease this...

aw gawd, hope CPAP and chin straps doesn't give you TMJ.  i'll keep an eye out for that.   while we have you here sha, the MMA still a success for you in your estimation?

you probably had that before cpap and adjusted to it by mouth breathing to keep it at baybut with a change of breathing it has flared try a full face mask and breath through your mouth may cause it to go away

Overall, yeah, I'd still stand by the 'success' rating. Even with the fine tuning afterwards, like this TMJ crap. When I sleep, I sleep like the DEAD. I could easily sleep 10+ hours a day; 9 seems to be my minimum. I'll probably always need something like that now.

Similarly, I still stand by my 'sucked a** at the time' rating.  :)

You are probably right about that - I have found almost nothing about folks 'getting' TMJ from the masks. I couldn't wear the full face masks; I have a very Roman nose (read: bump on top) and could never get a seal. I had to use nasal pillows and had to tape my mouth shut for a year to keep the air in. No longer use the CPAP due to corrective surgery, but the problem persists. Its possible it is just my particular issues.
