I have a close relative that I am very sure he has sleep apnea.  He has been told in the past, even by physicians sharing a hotel room with him that they thought he had it.  The problem is now he is unemplyed except for part time jobs so has no health coverage. I am so worried about him.  I wonder if there is any way he can be helped without insurance?

Seems like the sellers are cashing in on the lack of supply as we sold them (when we could get them) for $46.00 (just converted it).  However, our health is more important than money.  Hope you can persuade your relative to get help Ginny.  Seems like the company supplying it are somehow managing to allow people to purchase it in the USA, even though it's supposed to be a prescription item for you guys over the pond, so strike whilst the iron's hot :)  Can't understand why you need a prescription just to take a preliminary test though, but it's different in the UK - we can have a private test without a prescription.

Hi There!

Please don't waste your hard earned money on the strip! It is not as good as a HST. There is a company called AlltransMedical online that does a home sleep test for 329.00.  That is a 1/4 of the cost of the lab for 1 nite. You can let me know if he tests positive for OSA and I can arrange to get you a donated unit from the Reggie White Foundation. Good luck!

The strip is not a replacement for a HST - it's only a guide to see if people should take further action (bit like a pregnancy testing kit).  Here in the UK people often need this kind of evidence to persuade their GP's to refer them for HST's or lab tests :(  Good to hear there's some help out there via the Reggie White Foundation :)

Thanks Sherri...Have not talked with him for two weeks as he has been on a trip.  As soon as I do I will check in  to that test.
