I've been pretty depressed lately and not sleeping well.  Fragmented, light sleep.  Part of the problem is my meds I think (opiates for chronic pain) and my dog suddenly starts barking like crazy several times in the middle of the night.  I get up to quiet the dog and get a drink and sometimes forget to turn the machine back on though I put the mask on (I'm so accustomed to the pressure I don't notice) or if the dog wakes me up at six I take my mask off and if I'm not quite ready to get up I leave it off and try to convince Sky (K-9) to lay there with me for a while.  Also I spend most of the day on the couch dozing without my machine.  It would be easy to lay in the bedroom and use the machine, but I have become so lethagic and apathetic that I don't care and I'm sure it's a vicious cycle.  I'll make a- no- not an effort- I will start being more compliant with my machine use.

I don't know why I've gotten so depressed, , but it's lasted several months.  Of course I know  some of the obvious factors- bad sleep and machine  usage.  I had a check up and all was well.

I think I'll have to start putting the dog back in his kennel at night so he doesn't play guard dog and wake me up.  And again, the obvious things.

I'm going to Alabama Friday for my Mom's 85th birthday.  Thats going to be somewhat tricky as to carry ons.  I had surgery last Wednesday to replace the battery on the Deep Brain Stimulator and I'm not supposed to lift more than three lbs.  Of course my suitcase rolls, and I won't need my humidifier in Mobile.  I figure I can put my meds and a book in the exta space in the CPAP bag.

Thanks, folks.

Thanks, Zollistar.  I see my Psychiatrist tomorrow and will ask her about it.  Too much inforrmation- I am seriously mentally ill, though it could be worse- I'm not psychotic or schizoprenic.

Mary,

A few years ago I started taking OmegaBrite. My reason for taking it was to avoid taking statin drugs. The result was astounding. Even my doctor was -- is -- impressed.

HOWEVER, a friend whose brother is a psychiatrist told me that he has practically all of his patients on OmegaBrite because it makes a substantial difference in mood disorders. Indeed, my friend, who has certain mental health "issues" is on a high dosag; it makes a big, big difference for her.

Here is a link to some of the testimonials: http://omegabrite.com/why/success_stories.html

Here is the link to more about the product itself: http://omegabrite.com/index.html

Of course, go to the home page and click around to read more about OmegaBrite.

Fair warning: the product is expensive. My friend and I go in on a big order to bring down the per box cost. She takes a considerably higher dosage than I take because she has mental health problems which, fortunately, I don't have. No matter its cost: we both consider it really worthwhile.

Zollistar, I was just reading about the product and don't see anywhere you can make a large purchase.  What is the recommended dose a day?

Thanks.

Zollistar, I asked my psychiatrist about taking omega 3 today and she recommended omegabrite as one of the most standardized brands. Thanks.

Ah! Would that I could tell you the recommended dosage!

I know that my friend (sister of the psychiatrist) takes something like 7 or 8 a day. This helps her to keep her mood disorder in control and stabilized. My friend tells me that her brother says that some of his patients need much higher doses while others do fine on lower doses.

I believe that it takes a while, say up four to six weeks, before OmegaBrite "kicks in". Assuming you get results, you could start taking the dosage down notch by notch. You'll want to do this if you can: It's expensive. You want the optimum result at the lowest cost.

Another approach: Start lower, say three a day, and increase the amount if you're not getting results. I think this approach takes longer, however. I think that I'd try for the higher dosage for a while, notice effects and, hopefully, lower the dosage.

     I hope this helps!

It appears that the company no longer has a large-purchase discount. Instead, you get a break if you take regular orders.

     Darn!

Mary, you're a remarkable woman coping with all of this. I've read your posts over this last year, all helpful to adapt to this CPAP. Interesting that the OmegaBrite is fish oil, not SAME. All the best that it will help you.

K.S. is right Mary - you are a remarkable woman and have helped loads of people over the years, even though you have your own issues.  Are you feeling any better?

Do let us know, Mary. We care.

Thanks for all your messages.  I am feeling somewhat better.  Totally compliant with my ASV.
I have the Omegabrite, but haven't got into the routine yet.  Thanks, Mary

Hi Mary, Are you doing any better? Sandy made me non compliant it really scrambled me up not having my machine. Please use your machine even for naps ,catch up on your sleep debt . A routine is helpfull but surgery and travel mess it up. Good Sleep,Chris
