As an European citizen, it is natural with a health care reform, as Obama introduces. It is incomprehensible to me how some Americans can be opposed.

Perhaps it is because we in Europe for many many years have had free medical treatment.

Does anybody know how ObamaCare will affect the diagnostic process for sleep apnea?

Obama care will adopt the european sleep sytem. HSTs and auto-titrations will become the norm for a great majority of the country.

I'm for Obamacare.

IT is not the Americans that are opposing it but religion meddling in politics

What? A great majority of americans see it as a tax.

Mike needs a hug.

Maybe everyone's at the Olympics, it is very quiet.

My problem is those that many of the Medicaid patients get better care than those that have insurance or pay out of pocket.  Most that have insurance have deductibles and copays that have to be met out of pocket.  Those that pay out of pocket get the shaft as they have no leverage for the most part (my brothers have no health insurance).  Often times, it comes down to "can we afford to go to the doctor/hospital to take care of medical problems or wait.  Many times it comes down to waiting to there are major issues as preventive care costs keep rising and it comes down to paying the rent and eating or health care.

An example, my granddaughter has a friend that stated she is getting braces.  I asked why since her teeth are straight and really pretty.  She stated the dentist told her she didn't need them but if she wanted them she could have them -- she then said "we don't have to pay for them as we have Medicaid."  Yep, a whole family that is living off from the welfare system (also from across the border).

Will Obamacare take care of this inequality?  Will patients be treated equally?  Will everyone share the cost with those on Medicaid sharing a higher share of the cost?

If you are really interested, then read more than the headlines. ObamaCare is nothing like the universal health care you have in many Western European countries.

ObamaCare is a type of "health insurance reform" that is supposed to add many more customers for the insurance industry. It does not provide "free" health care for anyone. Additionally, it is a very complex and poorly written and lengthy legislation. Our government does not have in place a "quality process" for writing legislation. It is a slipshod process loaded up with Congressional corruption and incompetence that responds to special interests.

The legislation is a meager attempt to increase the demand for medical care without doing anything to increase the supply. In fact, it is likely to decrease the supply. Increased demand/decreased supply is a perfect recipe for disaster in this case.

Our then Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, famously said, "We have to pass it to see what is in it." At the time of passage there was not a single person who understand the full bill of over 2000 pages and there were very few who had read all of it. We will suffer from the many unintended consequences of this law for decades. Unless of course, it is overturned, then we will suffer from the unintended consequences of whatever new legislation replaces it.

BTW, you show  a lack of basic economic understanding or a careless use of words when you speak of Europe's "free medical treatment". Hopefully you don't think there are goods and services that are free!

Off course, nothing is free.

In Denmark, we have for a couple hundred years built our society around the "One for all and all for one".

Many companies, our social system and a number of other organizations are structured as non-profit organizations - including right up to 1973 our health care system. Subsequently, our health care system is paid through the taxes.

Corresponding with our education system. This is also financed through our taxes. (Here we are deviating from a large part of Europe, incidentally.)

So we have basically a different social system where we pay high taxes but in return receives a large part from the public system at no extra charge.

Since it is a system all Danes have grown up with, I think it's a natural part of our lives.

On the other hand, I think it gives a very robust system. Even here in the crisis have Denmark and the other Nordic countries done it well.

Personally I earn much money, and consequently I pay very high taxes. Sometimes it may feel a little sour.

But generally the Danes feel very satisfied.
