Hello everyone,

Well I am new to this I was diagnosed 5 yrs ago with severe case of sleep apnea.

I just found out today that I also has obstructive sleep apnea as well and the doc also said that I have a severe case of sleep apnea.. Well I am schedule for another sleep study this time with the mask.. I hope after reading everyone's stories on there sleep apnea mine will improve a whole heck of a lot...

When I was on a machine i would do very well as far as not snoring at night but I was still very tired during the day...

So my question to who ever can answer it is this?  why am I still tired during the day after getting a good nites sleep?

Thank you

GM, are you working out consistently?  That's been the key to everything for me - I walk a minimum of 3 miles a day, but shoot for 5, I lift weights and do Zumba in the mornings.  Otherwise, my numbers SUCK and I don't see the benefits.  I lost 42lbs last year, still working on 80 more, but now I can't lose a single pound to save my life, HOWEVER, if I keep exercising, the numbers stay good.

I suck! My BP has gone UP and I am 100% compliant. I might miss maybe 1 day a month of CPAP. Everytime I go to doctor now I feel my heart race cause they always want to change or add some meds, I feel like just running away seriously.

Ray, I have been on CPAP for three years and have never been properly titrated.  I still sufffer from Excesssive Daytime Sleepiness.  Unlike Stacy, due to a disability I am unable to be so active.  I rely on a prescription for Nuvigil or Provigil (which don't that well anymore)  Perhaps you are not yet properly titrated, or are just one of us that continue to be sleepy during the day.  It's a real pain.

Hi Wade! I am fairly new also. Only about 2.5 months.
But much to my delight my high blood pressure was absolutely in the normal range on my last Dr appt.
I am still continuing the meds to make sure for now.

And here I thought it was just my ex' leaving. I was on 10mg daily for high blood pressure..He walked in one day..said he was leaving...within a week I was feeling tired, lethargic..when I stopped taking my bp pill I felt like normal again. I quit taking my  pills and my bp was normal from then on. OKAY..~  I DID go for my sleep study soon after that too.. so perhaps the combo of the two. So.my theory..getting rid of stressful things and breathing good at night helped my bp return to normal...

( smirky grin)

I hear ya, Sheila ! ;-)

Hi Ray, What are your numbers running? ahi, ai ,leakage? Do you have a data capable machine? The numbers tell what kind of night you really had . I had malfunctioning machine and had no idea cause I was not shown how to read my numbers.....never again! Good Sleep,Chris

hi chris,

i haven't received my machine yet..have to go in for a filtration test they call it..when I was on a machine it was set at 11 and I was still tired during the day.... I had no energy and when I did walk i was only able to walk dso far and then come back.

But now I can walk atleast 2 miles and waiting for the machine to see if I can increase that to 5 miles a day hopefully... I am about 60 pounds over weight and its slowly coming off but hopefully by summer I will be at the weight I want to be..

Wish i could be at what i was back in the 60's in high school but my girlfriend said thats to skinny..used to be 145... which I can agree since I stand 6'1".. well let me now what u think and as soon as I get my machine I will let u now how it goes... Thanks for the good advise

Hi Ray, The new machines have data capability .Make sure after your titration test you get a copy if it .It will have your titration numbers .Your ahi ai and leakage will tell you how you are doing. Weight loss and exercise are both good slow but steady is best.Their are many discussions about numbers here. I suggest you go to the main discussion page look for the box with the magnifing glass and type in the initials and buzz words I listed before your test so you can ask questions at the test and of course here too.Good Sleep, Chris

Stacy,

I have never heard of Zumba!  Anyhow, I have multiple herniated disc cervical and lumbar so it is hard to workout that much, however we do walk daily a few miles and absolutely not diet but no processed crap (home cooked meals only) with calories watched.

mine came down a lot but since putting some weight back on its slowly creeping back up....
When I started CPAP my BP was slightly above normal.  I kept expecting to be put on BP meds, but I guess it wasn't that bad.  Now, after three years it is in the normal range.
