Conducting an informal survey on what meds people on this forum are using, if any, to help them sleep . . .

Mike,

This is an interesting question but, how about setting up a survey monkey? They're free and you can make it anonymous. I don't how many people really want to tell everyone what meds they take.

I don't always use sleep meds, but when I do I prefer melatonin.  Stay sleepy, my friends.
Ha ha.. LOVE it.. I can see your " manly image" from the commercial..lol.  There is something in bananas
that makes you sleepy.. I have used it with all my kids and myself as well...nice hot candle lit bubble bath
and if you drink add  a small glass wine..would do trick as well.
I take Seroquel XR at night for another condition, but it helps me sleep as well.
Wow, I can't believe you take tylenol to help you sleep.  Tylenol has never done anything for me but keep me awake. The only times I have used Tylenol I laid awake the whole night. Does it effect anybody else like that?

A couple of aceteminophen tabs (Tylenol) takes the "edge" off to help me fall asleep.  I don't do it often, but it seems a safe way to help me get to sleep for the occasional times I need it.

Warm milk, melatonin, calcium supplements all work, too.  A bit of exercise during the day helps, like a walk for 20 minutes or so.  Of course the best way to fall asleep is to get up early the morning before and stay awake all day.  Might not work the first night, but after a day or two you'll fall asleep for sure!

Seroquel knocked me colder than a wedge for about 36 hours - but again I overreact to a first trial of anything.  Since I dont need it for anything else, I just keep a few around.

Even though I'm on a lot of meds, I sleep best when I have had exercise during the day and no naps.

I have tried all the Rx sleeping pills, OTC pills, and NOTHING works.I wake up about every 1.5 - 2 hours. EVERY once in a while, melatonin and l theanine and GABA will help me sleep maybe 3-4 hours, but this is such a rare thing that I am so thankful when it does.

Maddening is what it is!  But, it is one of those things that has become "normal" in a malfunctioning sort of way!

Not even Seroquel?  Or a giant Trazodone dose? Maybe you have more than one disorder - that's always fun.

i use my GERD medication to sleep

Peptac original annaseed

When I have trouble sleeping I use 1 mg melatonin. If I happen to be sick (sinus congestion or cold) I use Nyquil - it knocks me out! I have needed the melatonin recently because I'm getting used to using nasal pillows instead of the nasal mask. I try to avoid using anything and don't have any problems falling asleep, but I wake up several times a night wrestling with my mask.
1 Tramadol and 2 Ibuprofen, and make sure no leaks in my mask.  I suck on vitamin C chewables to keep my mouth and throat from drying out too much.
Right now I take Lunesta 3 mg every night.  Insomnia is new for me.  I would like to stop the lunesta and take something like trazadone that I can take routinely without problems.
