CPAP & Dry Mouth

In recent months, I have developed extreme dry mouth as a result of the CPAP.  I am a mouth breather when using CPAP.Recently, I saw an advertisement for the symptoms of dry mouth, but as usual, when I need the information to have a discussion with both my primary care  physician and my dentist I haven't seen the ad. Has anyone else seen the ad and can anyone remember the info in the ad?Thanks in advance,DanSee More

CPAP Machine Readings

Not sure if my previous discussion posted so here I go again....I was diagnosed with OSA about 7-8 yrs. ago but never got used to using CPAP.  Today I'm forcing myself to use the machine because I'm simply tired of being tired all of the time.  I use a full face gel mask as I'm 90% a mouth breather.  I'm confused as to the numbers on the machine itself.  The provider explained about the mask - the cleaning, assembly & use of it, but never explained as to what the numbers mean.  The ramp…See More

Hi Jeanette,

Sounds as if we share the same villian.  Except I use the nasal pillows when I can keep the head gear on.

I have severe sleep apnea and am I trying to do something about
it.  Recently I started on Lunesta 3 mg
and after a month I really don’t notice any difference.  My Doctor reset my Respironics machine to
full blast up in the 20’s later had to lower it to 14 that is when I discovered
the ramp button.  I can only keep my face apparatus
on for only about 20 minutes then I throw it off.  I have had several fittings with no avail.

I wish I could give you some positive hints, answers or
remarks but not yet.  I found out when I
see my Doc it’s always the same visit.  “How
are you doing Jim?”  “ Still can’t sleep Doc
but hopefully I’m getting better.   Then
I tell her the same thing I always do  that I wake up a lot at night and never reach
Rem sleep.  That’s when I got the scrip
for Lunesta.  Now don’t laugh but I also
bought a Bushnell Trophy Cam, it’s a night vision camera.  I am gathering 10 second movies of my
sleep.  Last night the camera caught 67
episodes.  Let’s see if our next office
visit isn’t a little more productive.

L8ter,

Jim
