Came across a new entry into the CPAP accessory market: the Zzzip-it CPAP Hose Cleaner (depicted below).  Details at http://www.zzzip-it.com/  -- what do you guys think -- worth $29.99?

I am not sure. I have cleaned my hose about once a month. (Think I was told by tech to do it more often than that) I usually hang it to dry near an air vent and it's been dry that evening. Would there be enough debris in the hose to merit this type of cleaning tool?
I don't think it's necessary unless maybe you kept the hose for a year.  I change ur every six months or so and soap and water have done fine.  My hose never has debris inside.

Looking at their ad, it does not say how long it is, but states "telescoping", with an additional photo below, next to the lemon floral water that is supposed to go with it.  It seems that the lighter blue part is some sort of sponge material, and not soft fabric material, so I'm not sure how much help it would be with drying out the inner tube, or whether it would work well with your own water and soap.  Looks like you have to do one half of tube at a time; probably only long enough for half of tube.

Looking at the "Lemon Zzzip" spray that goes with it, it seems to be a system for not using soap and water.  It may be a nice mild lemon scent if that appeals to you.  I see this as belonging to a "comfort" category, appealing to some, but not necessary.  Value would depend on number of uses from devise and spray, along with personal preference for scent and process involved.  Might be good for removing soap and hard water residue from hose  (after washing hose the regular way), if that bothers you.

Retail cost of new hoses is less than this system, so that might be a consideration. Still, I like to maximize use of products, less landfill.  Anyone know if hoses are recyclable material?

I think you're right about the cost of a new hose being minimal.  but the environmental impact is a consideration for sure.  personally, i never clean the hose and replace them every 5-6 months or so.  is that gross?  i know that insurance reimbursement often allows for shorter replacement periods.

I have been washing my hose weekly with warm water and baby shampoo.   Is it necessary?  I am going to see how often my insurance pays for a new hose.  Might be nice to have an extra 1 or two on hand.  At least I would use them.  Unlike my stock pile of CPAP pillows that are filling up my closet.  Hate to throw away since they were $50+ each.  :)

I think it's a good idea to wash the hose out weekly a you've been doing , Ginny.  I wash mine every week as you do- with mild soap and water.
