Ernestine,

I currently have a full nasal mask, but have to use it with a chin bracing strap which is supposed to keep my mouth closed. It does the job OK,but I still have problems with the mask coming off my face when I turn on my side. I was waking up 6-7 times a night to put the mask back on my face. When there was the problem of the pillow portion of the mask coming apart from the rest of the mask. This has become a regular occurrence. When this happens, I am fully awake again by the time I get it put back together. I think I may have to get another mask to replace the one that comes apart when so I only have to change the one out for the other and then repair them the next day. The chin strap does work. It took a little time to get used to it. One fellow suggested using tape and a thin piece of toilet paper to keep the tape from sticking to his lips and face. With out seeing just what he has done I am having a little trouble understanding when exactly he is doing. But my recommendation would be to get the chin strap. So far it has done OK, but still working through the issues of the mask coming off the face.

I hope this was helpful. I am not very sharp today as i had another really bad night last night. Good luck. But really try the chin strap!!

Hi  My, Do you have a" hose managment system "of any sort ?  It just suspends the hose so their is not so much drag when you turn over. You can make something yourself or their are things you can purchase. Good Sleep,Chris

I am not sure about all that goes on with me and sleep apnea, all i remember is the doc said that my blood ox drops to the 70's that is why I would wake up with bad headaches cause of lack of ox to the brain.  Does anyone know anything about this?

I dont think a pillow of any kind is going to make much of a difference with my rest, I have Dystonia and that in itself makes sleeping or getting to sleep difficult sometimes.

I found the Contour pillow way too small for me. When I wanted to turn over, I would fall off the very small place for a head (and I am not a large person). I would fall off into the cut out place for your nose and mask. The pillow should be at least 4 inches wider to be functional. It was a waste of my money. And when I was in the right place for my mask, the cut out place would echo the noise of the breathing/mask. Found it very annoying. Shame I could not return the pillow. I was very disappointed.

John, Thanks for sharing this information. I plan to look into this.  I have issue with the a regular pillow too.  I will have to check out the contour pillow.  Will it matter if I am petite person?  Corinne

I used to have a major problem with masks and went through six of them before I found the Respironics OptiLife Nasal CPAP Mask.  Its a great mask with a chin strap, a double banded head band and uses nasal pillows that do not irritate my nose.  I have gone from being able to use the mask for four hours to all night with no issues.  My wife also got me a pillow from Brylane Home for CPAPs which is incredible.  It is at http://www.brylanehome.com/decor/Contour-CPAP-Compliance-Pillow-and....   It is much easier to sleep with than a conventional pillow as it is contoured to the mask and helps greatly.  I also got the accessory kit which allows for the hose to hang "up in the air" which takes all of the hose drag off your face.   Hope all this helps.
