I recently came across a reference to a newer study on sleep apnea as a cause of brain damage. I have a diagnosis of UARS, which I understand to be on a continuum with OAS and treated the same as OAS (however, the nature of the nervous system in the two diagnoses seem to be very different). Does anyone know if there is a correlation between UARS and brain damage?
Where did you see the reference? I can take a look at the study and give you more if an idea of what the study is saying. As well as being a respiratory therapist working at a sleep clinic, I am also a scientist finishing her PhD. I can try and help you to figure out the correlation.
so i was contemplating whether to get involved politically on this one, since i am in NY. I have such a strong distaste for politics, though... it's just not my cup of tea.
Well .... thank goodness for the section I've highlighted in bold!!

Thanks Cindy. I am copying the text of the bill below so that everyone can take a look at what we're talking about. It does in fact look like a bill setting standards for the practice of polysomnographic technology in New York. I guess coming at thi…
