Have any of the readers had Turbinate surgery, and what were your results?  My ENT & internist keeps recommending that I have laser ablation turbinate surgery, to relieve the stuffiness I have at night.
I use my apap faithfully, and if I keep the water fresh and the unit really clean (which I sometimes get lazy), then of course I have better results.  But I still get stuffy at night, and take a decongestant (generic PE type) every night between 12:30 to 1:30 to get through the night.  I've tried all the nose sprays, and nothing seems to help.  I have not yet used the netipot that I bought (just a pressure spray type), because I am scared to do it, and I don't know what the results will be.
What are the general thoughts out there, please.  And thank you!

I had surgical turbinate resectioning (not coblation) and it was one of the best things I every had done. Healed quickly and put a nice freeway in my nostrils. This does not treat sleep apnea however.

My doc showed me my turbinates with an endoscope. It was obvious to me that they were enlarged and severely restricting air flow.

It sounds like you don't trust your ENT. In that case get a second opinion.
I had turbinate surgery 8 weeks ago. Am not sure of the correct medical terminology, but my ENT surgeon used a laser to shrink/reduce my swollen turbinates. Firstly, to say that the operation was nothing to worry about with hardly any pain afterwards. My nostrils had no packing in them, thankfully, just a large swab at the entry to my nostrils. Within days I could breathe so much better and I thought my operation had been a complete success. Every morning I was waking up with clear nasal passages, which in itself was a great achievement, as I always used to wake up unable to breathe through them under the mask. BUT....... since the central heating came back on two weeks ago (it's colder now in the UK), I've been disappointed to discover my nasal stuffiness is back again.

I'm going back to see the surgeon on the 19th October for my post-op appointment, so will see what he says. He did explain to me that he was trying the least invasive procedure first. I think I'm correct in saying that the next step to try would be what Rooster had, so maybe that's the route I'll have to go down. I'll report back in October, but would be interested in hearing other people's experience. My surgeon did warn me it could come back.
Yeah, Kath, keep us posted.
Thanks.

Will do Mary, and good luck with your own ENT appointment I've been reading about on the other discussion.
