i am on my 2 nd night of trying the nasal pillow mask , the resmed swift fx , i have 30 days to figure out if i want to keep it or trade it in to try another one, as usual the first night was rough but last night was alot better, my question is i hear the hissing sound is this normal for a nasal pillow mask ?  i also had the the full mask to start with but wanted to try another one to see if it would work better for me.

anyone using the nasal pillow mask and what have you experienced ?

thanks

just wanted to let everyone know i returned the nasal pillow mask today and going back to the full mask, i knew if i kept the nasal mask i would not have the 94 % compliance rate the next doctor visit  unless things improved  bigtime. did not sleep much at all last night .did not go to sleep until after 4 am this morning and up at 7:30 am and this is a every night thing so knew i had to do something. i feel better about my decision and had hoped it would work out but you don't never know if you do not try.

thank everyone for your suggestions and encouragement.

There have been discussions about this appliance and I believe it is mentioned in one going on now started by Mike last year.  There is even a picture of the appliance.  We have heard from several people that it worked for, but practioners are few and far between.  On the main page there is a search engine with lots of discussion, Please do check it out.
Hope the full mask works better for you.  I was just reading on another forum about a man lucky enough to be given a loaner machine by his hospital, but his compliance is nearly 0%.  He's scared their are going to take it away.  This is an extreme example, but it's important for our doctors and DMES to see we are serious about our therapy if we expect them to help us.  Of course if you are having problems with compliance due to the wrong mask something has to change.  Good luck, Ernestine

i did sleep very well last night , of course i did take a sleep aid before i went to bed which is Gabapentin 400 mg. it does not work every night but the new full mask is going to be shipped to me but i used the old full mask last night and kept it on ALL NIGHT LONG ! i did not get much needed sleep the night before. have been out of work for 1 1/2 years due to a layoff and am trying to find a job but in my area it is hard to find a decent paying job , the unemployment rate is real high. thought if i went back to work it may help me sleep alittle better plus help with my insurance and medical bills as far as insurance goes, have gone in the donut hole with medicare so i have to pay 100 % of my medication. 2 of my medications is over $220 a month each. not complaining and i know this is another subject but just venting .

thanks all

If you have a Costco nearby, try using that for your RX. I priced my Ambien at CVS it would be $50, at Costco the same exact thing was only $12. You don't have to be a member, and it could surely help. YOu might even be able to do it online with mailing in your prescriptions. Worth a call.

Every experiment with L-Theanine supplements 200mg derived from Green Tea ?  It has a calming effect on brainwaves.   Also, your cortisol levels might be 'upside' down due to diminished adrenal function.    Brainstorming for you.
