I just got my Swift FX yesterday. I'm down with a horrible cold (double ear infections, sinus infection and lung infection) and so have been trying to sleep a LOT lately. So even though I just got it I've slept with it a good 24 hours or so it seems.

I'm very happy with it! I was worried at first that I'd need to have it be able to be tighter on top, but actually I didn't. I just had to tighten the back strap. I can put the back strap under my hair, just like I did with the other swift models.

I was worried about the nasal pillows not swiveling like the other models, but it doesn't actually seem to be an issue. The silicone or whatever the mask is made of is very soft, but after my first nap using it I did go ahead and put on the padded covers that come with the mask to see how those worked. They're great. Made it even more comfortable.

One big improvement I think is the hose that goes from the nasal pillows to the cpap hose. It's super flexible, and much quieter than the swift LX hose was. It's not really geared to go up over your head (no clip to hold it up there like the LX) but I've had no trouble with it because it is so flexible. The mask itself is just as quiet or more quiet than the Swift LX too.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes nasal pillows. Oh, and I still use the large pillows, same as with the other swift models. Pillow sizes seemed pretty consistent for me.

Excellent review, Amott! thanks for sharing it with everyone here at SG. I know Jan and some others were asking about first hand experiences with the Swift FX, so I'll point them in the direction of this review.

By the way, your cold sounds awful. I have a nasty cold this week too, but you've got me beat in terms of nastiness. I'm thinking about you, hoping for your quick recovery.
Hi Amott. Thanks for the great info on this new mask. I am wondering if the nasal pillow is the same that is used for the other swift models.. I was thinking of the LT in particular.

Thanks much,

Jan
The sizes seem comparable, and look very similar where they go on/in your nose, but the way they attach to the headgear and hose are very different. The vent is on the hose, not the pillows, and they don't swivel like the older models do. I was worried about that being an issue, but it hasn't been.

Thanks Mike. It was sheer hell! All three in my family had it, sinus infection, double ear infections and pneumonia (although not confirmed by xray, just doc opinion). Finally starting to get over it, but missed a whole week of work. Being pregnant and anemic probably didn't help my recovery any either.
Congrats Amott. I did not know that you were pregnant. That is exciting.
Second the congratulations!!

I appreciate your review of the Swift FX. I have been interested in this mask and want some opinions on it.
Thanks Rock. Not just pregnant, but pregnant with twins! I've already been fiddling with my pressure to adjust for gaining back that 40 pounds that I'd lost last summer. It's going to be interesting with all the fluctuations in weight. I'm thinking now is the time to see if I can score an APAP!

I put took some photos of myself in the mask in case that helps folks. These are pretty candid photos, no makeup and after a long day, so I won't be winning any photo contests! But thought they might be interesting.

Hi-- I just got this mask-- I have been on the Swift LT for her nasal pillow mask. I just took it out of the box and tried it on very quickly and it seemed that I might have to go from the small to medium pillows...but I won't know for sure till I give it a real try out. I was in a hotel for the last few nights and did some real battling with the stiffer hose on the Swift I've been using. I think that I am going to really like the flexibility of this new hose.

Assuming that these pillows are supposed to be put on with the Resmed logo facing out as in the Swift LT?...or I could go read the manual ;-)

I'll try and give a report on the mask after I've tried it for a few nights.
I received my Swift FX today and I am ready to try it tonight.

I watched a video on how to size the pillows, but I can't figure out if I need a med or large -- I am going to try medium tonight. The default sizing of the straps and the top adjustment fit me perfectly, I didn't need to adjust anything. My last Swift had a very fancy case; this one has a nice fuzzy drawstring bag -- which seems like it might work better than the fancy case.

I can't believe how light and wispy this new mask is and how easy it is to assemble and disassemble.. I am unable to wear my glasses with it on because the side straps(?) are too bulky to wear my glasses over them and it won't work to put my glasses under the straps..
I tried mine last night and I love it; it is the lightest and most comfortable mask I have ever worn. The small, super flexible hose makes a huge difference. I had to change back to the medium pillows -- using a flashlight. My only problem is teh air exhaust.

The air exhaust makes quite a bit of noise if it is blowing on my bed pillow or other bedding, also my partner doesn't like the air blowing on him. I need to find a fix for the obnoxious air exhaust before I use it again, perhaps a bit of polyester batting as a baffle over the exhaust.
Great to hear others' reviews of this as well. Tim, I agree it is loud if it blows on something. I tend to be a back sleeper so usually not an issue, but being pregnant I'm supposed to lie on my sides, so it's tricky to make sure i'm close enough to the edge of the pillow to let it have space to blow. As long as it's not blowing on something close it's super quiet.

Good point about glasses though. I don'[t have to worry about that, but I'm sure others will appreciate that info. I can see that would be an issue.
swift fx is an awesome mask, from all anecdotal accounts I've been hearing.
