Hello all, I haven't been on for a while. Things aren't perfect but they are better. I just got a replacement mask, same I usually wear. Works fine for me but this time I was lazy and did not put moleskin on my nose for protection against a pressure sore. I usually only get one when I get a new mask. I have been diligent about putting on the moleskin since and it was improving, until last night.  Wow is my nose swollen! Okay here's the question, how do you heal it? I know I will have to try to wear a different mask, which will be awful, for the next few nights but is there anything I can do to accelerate the healing?

Thanks ahead of time for your advice!

bonesigh, I never found anything to accellerate the healint from a pressure sore. You're right- you have to take the pressure off that area long enough for it to heal completely. Duoderm (you can buy one 4"X4" on Amazon- it's expensive) is often used to help heal bed sores. You might find it of some use. Or Walmart carries a Johnson and Johnson brand pressure bandage- hydrocolloid.
Good luck. I eventually had to switch to a FitLife Total Face Mask to keep the pressure off my nose.
Thanks Mary. I'll look into it. Usually this mask is fine for me (Mirage Quattro ffm). I only have occasional problems.
besure the mask isn't to tight as well. I tend to over tighten when trying out new mask for review and end up with some really nasty red sore spots at times.
I used a hybrid mask last night and actually slept fairly well but my nose this morning is worse. My whole nose is swollen and one of the glands under my jaw is tender.
Wait a minute. Are you all trying to scare us poor beginners to death? What's the deal behind swollen noses. I don't want one of those!
Sorry RChatty, there are sometimes unpleasant things that can happen with pap therapy. It was very hard the first 2 years. I don't usually have much trouble anymore since getting my new apap. Put on the mask and I'm out for most of the night. Usually if I start to get a sore on my nose a moleskin patch at night clears it right up. This time unfortunately for some odd reason it cleared up and than came back full force. Just went to the doc today, yep infected, here's some antibiotics.
I hope all goes well for you and your one of the ones it works miracles on right away!
I would recommend keeping the area clean and dry. It doesn't really need more than that, unless it starts turning red(sign of infection) or an increase in the pain.

Hope it heals up quickly for you.
I think if you have a pressure sore and keep putting pressure on the same place it will not heal. Now if you take the pressure off the area, clean and dry is good. Speaking from painful experience and stubborness, trying clean and dry with padding at night, but the pressure on the same area night after night caused nasty skin breaksown which took 19 days to heal. Still have the scar and can't wear a mask that hits that part of my nose.
