MRCA & infectious diseases

I am looking for advice regarding CPAP and infectious disease.  A couple weeks ago I came down with a Staph infection, or MRCA, in my nostril.  I have not used my CPAP machine since then as I have been waiting for the infection to clear up.  I am concerned that the CPAP may have been the source of infection.  If this is the case, I am concerned about going back to using the CPAP in fear of being re-infected.  Is anyone knowledgable about MRCA and whether it can be transmitted through the tubing…See More

SoClean CPAP Sanitizing Machine

Has anyone tried this machine?  If it does what it say -- fully sanitize the mask, headgear and tank -- it sounds like a real benefit and likely worth the cost.https://betterrestsolutions.com/SC1100-SoClean-CPAP-Sanitizing-Unit_p_17.htmlSee More

The first apnea head gear I received three weeks ago was the ResMed Swift FX.  Used it for almost a week and decided I didn't like it.  The Company I use gave me a Resperonics Comfort Gel Mask.  Used it two nights and I hate it.  Made my skin itch under the mask, especially around the nose area.  Went back to using the Swift FX pillows.  Decided I liked them better than I first thought.  Can someone tell me what pillow type gear they use and how do they like them?   Also, how often do you clean the pillows and what do you use to do the cleaning.

Can't wait to hear.  One time I asked the T at my DOCTOR"S office what would I do if I could not find a mask to fit and he shrugged, "guess you will just have to stop CPAP".  I feel like since March 17th I have been on a one woman crusade!

Swift FX comes with XS pillows too.  Have you tried them?  I also have wondered about the Optilife.  I guess it depends if it really fits the size of your face.  Most masks are just too big for me.  Wonder if Cpaplibrary.com has them to try?  Sounds like many of us have the same problems

Ginny, I forgot that I gave back the Swift FX and got the Swift Lt instead.  But the pillows are too big on this one too, so I'll ask about them tomorrow.  Not a bad mask except for the pillows and the fact that I need a chin strap.  And BTW, this is the mask that comes with the clip that allows you to put the tube over your head and out of your way.  It came with three pillows - small, medium, and large but I'll ask about a petite size or xsmall.

Looking at all the products I see that mine started out with the cheapest masks first and every time they give me a different one it's a higher priced product.  I blame the insurance company for that.  But my company should have the OptiLife mask because all the masks they've given me are from Respironics.

Sorry I got the names of my masks mixed up.  I now have two from the company, the Swift Lt (which I wonder is for a man) and the Comfort Gel one.  My problem is my face is small and short.

I'll let you know tomorrow what the outcome is after I talk to the Company.

Hi Ginny ~ I just called my company and they have the OptiLife mask.  They hopefully will be able to get here today.  I need a good night's sleep.

If this doesn't work, I'm thinking of going back to the Swift FX but this time with the extra small pillows and ask them if they have a better chip strap than the cheap one they first sent me.  They must have.  I can't believe anyone would be happy with the one I got.

I'll let you know how the OptiLife fits when I get a chance to use it.  I see that it comes with two different types of pillows.  It looks like they can both be used at the same time.

Rita
