Hello, I was asked to post this as a new discussion topic.  I wanted to provide some information on the Oral Systemic Balance (OSB).  I am not a dentist, I am a professor.  I have had migraines for 36 years, have had every treatment from acupuncture to Zanadine (muscle relaxant). The migraines usually came twice a week, and lasted 1-3 days. You can see how this would define my life. I got the OSB (oral systemic balance) dental device from Dr. Lawler, and have not had a migraine in 3 months. I'm one of the people Dr. Lawler has videotaped. All I can say is, I hope the dental and medical communities embrace this research so others can benefit as I have.  Dr. Lawler is studying with Dr. Farrand Robson of Tacoma Washington.

I am intrigued by Dr. Lawler's work in this area. Thank you for sharing your experience. Looking forward to learning more about the OSB device.
thank you for your experience

I am very interested in this device. I currently have a dental device but have never had it tested to see if it will take care of my OSA. I have to wear it just to get the mask on my bpap machine to fit my face. My current sleep doctor mentioned a possible referral to Dr. Lawler. (I live in the Bloomington area)

I went to the OSB website and read the material there and shared it with my wife. She is insisting after reading the information that I now ask for the referral. We are so glad I read this post.

Carol, welcome to Sleep Guide. Thank you for posting on the Oral Systemic Balance Device. I look forward to hearing more about it in the future. It seems to good to be true. But, oh, if it did work as advertised, it would be tne answer to a lot of problems. Again, I do appreciate your taking time as Mike asked and posting about a device that could help many of us. As you realize many people just don't tolerate CPAP.

Good luck to you!

I'm a social work professor. I teach 2 research classes, so I find Dr. Lawler's work interesting on that level as well.

I'm a social work professor. I teach 2 research classes,

As a social work researcher, have you considered the many pathologies caused by untreated sleep-disordered breathing? I am particularly thinking about high divorce rate, high unemployment/low earnings, domestic violence, anxiety, and depression.
I had my first appointment with Dr. Lawler this week. I go on Monday for impressions and xrays so that my OSB dental appliance for the daytime can be made.

Later we will go through the process of having a night appliance made. I may not be able to quit bpap, but Dr Lawler is sure that he can make much more comfortable than I am now, A mask with NO straps!

My wife and I were very impressed with Dr. Lawler and his staff.
I think you're right, and I hope someone does study this one day. I can see in friends and family what an issue it is.

I got a call from Dr. Lawler's office today. My daytime appliance has come in! I originally had an appointment for the 1st of Oct.,but since it came in early we are trying for this Wed. His office is suppose to contact me tomorrow. After a week or so on the daytime appliance I will be fitted with a night time appliance that will hopefully help with my sleep apnea.

Good luck to you! My situation has continued to be positive. No migraines since May. Unbelievable. However, I know that other people with migraines or other problems may have different results. No two people are alike, it seems. But I am hopeful for you. It is a blessing to wake up refreshed in the morning. Let us know how it goes for you.
