Just got home from my sleep study and I'm so nauseated that I can't even manage to take a much needed nap.

The glue they used to adhere the wires to my head, face and body was super stinky and I was told it contained ether.

I asked it anyone ever has any kind of negative reaction to it and was told "no" but I'm really starting to wonder if that's what's making me sick.

Ever since I woke up this morning I've had a horrid taste in my throat that can't be dislodged with toothpaste, mouthwash, Coke, mints or chewing gum. I'm assuming it's coming part and parcel with the upset stomach.

I'm sure it'll all go away on it's own by this evening but I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem as well.

Other than that the study went well, I was bad enough that they had to come in mid-way through the night and fit me with a mask.

Thanks to all of YOU and this site I went in educated and knowing what to ask for. I ended up with a nose pillow with room temp humidity and it really was so comfy (more so than the full nose mask). It took me probably an hour to get used to it enough to get back to sleep but slept well for the remaining 2 hours or so of the study.

Next step is to choose an CPAP provider and get back to them with the info.

I'm not looking forward to having a stranger in my overly crowded and cluttered bedroom but I've gotta do what I've gotta do. I'm sure they've seen worse. ;)

Sorry you aren't feeling well.

You had what is called a split study. Your doctor ordered it and that is what they were following. I don't think it has anything to do with the severity of your sleep apnea.

I was scheduled for a split study (doctor had told me prior to the study) but didn't sleep long enough to qualifiy for a split study as they need enough data (and insurance and Medicare require it). I think there probably pros and cons to both ways. Split studies are less expensive then 2 separate studies, but it can be tricky to get enough info on both ends (without and with a cpap).

I hope you get to feeling better and hopefully, will be able to get some rest soon.
I would wonder if it couldn't be the result of aerophagia? Silent reflux or GERD causing the terrible taste and nausea.

Call your insurance company and ask them what local DME suppliers they are contracted with. Hopefully you will have the option of more than one as that gives you more bargaining/negotiating room to get the equipment you want (w/in reason) AND most important one w/a LENIENT mask exchange policy as well as an RT you will be comfortable working with.
My wife broke out in hives and felt like vomiting because of the glue. It all passed within the day. Tak a good shower and scrub well. See a doctor if u don't improve shortly.
If you could find out what kind of past they use I could tell you what the side effects might be. 10/20 and Elifix usually have no side effects. I use a combination of both. I have never known or heard of anyone to have an allergic reaction anyway. Collodian is a completely different beast. This product has a horrible smell, takes forever to dry, and even longer to get out. It can be harmful to asthmatic, or pregnant pts and techs. Most labs have discontinued use of this product, but a few have not.
That reminds me, I used Dawn dishwashing liquid, dabbed on as many spots I could find, then rubbed in and lathered up my entire head and rinsed thoroughly, to get that crap out of my hair! :)
