I gained 30 lbs. between New Years and now.  It's terrible and now I've finally got the determination to lose the weight.  At my appointment with the sleep doctor we had to increases my EPAP from eight to ten.

It was funny- my doctor didn't trust me to change the pressure myself.  "I don't want you messing it up".  I hadn't taken the power cord in thinking incorrectly they would have one so they couldn't change it at the center.  He wrote a note to my DME to change it for me.  I am not taking it in to the DME having successfully  not messed it up to ten.  We CPAP nerds like to think we know more about CPAP machines than the sleep techs and we're probably right.

I was seriously underweight when diagnosed, but had the symptoms of severe sleep apnea with an AHI of only five.

I'm also in a battle to get my psychiatrist to prescribe some Ritalin for afternoon sleepiness.  I can sleep away my afternoons and Provigil and Nuvigil no longer work for me.

We talked about it at my last appointment and she said that it depended on what the sleep doctor said.  He approved it as long as she would prescribe it for me.  He said it was fine, but now she's balking and says she wants to wait for my next appointment.

One time my sleep doctor's assistant changed my settings per orders (she used the data card to make the changes)  Well, it changed other settings too.  I went to my DME and they did not know how to correct the new changes!   Someone on this board knew how and now I KNOW!   I was shocked that the RT at the DME did not have a clue.

On the other subject (weight gain) are you able to exercise, walk etc most days?

On weight gain, yes, luckily I am able to walk as far as I like.  I have a dog who needs walking and the beach three blocks from here.  I have lost weight just walking before.

I envy you and your beach!   Love early morning or evening walks on one.

I am not shocked. The last time time the pressure was changed on my machine other things were changed. Maybe that is why.  I just changed them back.

Mary good luck with the weight loss.

I know one person that took Ritalin but the sleep study doctor prescribed it Why does it have to be your psychiatrist prescribing it?

I am on  four psychiatric meds and the sleep doctor knows my history surprisingly well so he defers to the psychiatrist for prescribing meds.   She sees me every three months or sooner. I also have essential tremor and he doesn't want to worsen that.  The tremor is just that- when I do something with my hands like putting a key in the door or holding a drinking glass my hands shake.

My sleep doctor is amazing.  I see him every six- 12 months and he always remembers my health history.

Wondering if anything on this site is working. Hope everyone had a good night's sleep.

I'm here!  I've lost 7.5 lbs. on a whole food regimen that ZolliStar recommended to me.  I slept well last night, but have been having problems staying awake during the afternoon.  I went to bed at 7:30 last night and got up at eight.  I still could go back to bed after walking my dog.
