I am looking for advice regarding CPAP and infectious disease. A couple weeks ago I came down with a Staph infection, or MRCA, in my nostril. I have not used my CPAP machine since then as I have been waiting for the infection to clear up. I am concerned that the CPAP may have been the source of infection. I think the biggest problem is that many of the side effects that can follow Enalapril, are also symptoms of OSA. Therefore, it may be difficult to separate symptoms.

Cataracts and Sleep Apnea.
It is well known that sleep apnea can affect the eyes, especially glaucoma.
There is no scientific articles about cataracts and sleep apnea. Actually we don't know quite how cataracts occur.
I can find many individual cases, but no science.
When I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 6 years ago I also got an eye examination, which showed an incipient cataracts. I had by this time no sense of this.
Today I have big problems with my cataracts, and within the next 2 weeks I will have a surgery for this (with multifocal linse).
Personally, I believe there is a connection, but I can not find any proves for this.

i am looking for reasons why i still have problems falling asleep, i take my sleeping pill about an 1 1/2 hours before going to bed , go to bed around 10 pm and lay there ,yes with my mask on until i finally get up and watch tv for awhile until about 1 to 2 am and go back to bed and finally fall asleep around 3 to 4 am and am awake at 6 to 7 am every morning, i use my cpap every night and do not think it is the mask or the cpap, have grown used to that and it actually feels good with the cool air blowing in my nose and with me wearing the chinstrap with the mask it does not leak . i have better quality sleep since using the cpap but the quanity of sleep leaves alot to be deisred . i have been laid off for over 2 years and unable to find another job so it may be stress but really do not think so, that is why i think it could be thyroid problems ? going to my doctor this coming thursday and am going to ask her to run a full thyroid panel on me to either rule it out or in, she will say there is no reason to test , i do not have the classic signs of hypothyroisdism or anything being wrong with your thyroid but i am going to tell her to humor me. ! learned when i started pressing for my sleep study to take charge of my health .

when i was in the x-y range diabetes was diagnosed
i understand that more than ten hours and less than sixteen hours are correct but this need to be checked by your self

I just saw your age on your personal page. (Do not worry, I will not tell it to any).
But we have the same age and I was diagnosed for cataracts for 6 years ago.
This is very early, which is why I think there's a connection to sleep apnea.

I also was diagnosed just over six years ago and it really took me by surprise as I was (I thought) too young for cataracts. I attributed their early formation to so many years of sun and no sunglasses. I'm sure I had undiagnosed OSA then. I'm 59 by the way (thanks for your discretion, Henning!) and that puppy in my arms is now a year old and too big for me to lift though he's only 37 lbs now he was about 16 lbs when that picture was taken last year.

I got my diagnosis for cataracts at the same time as I was diagnosed for sleep apnea.
But I am sure that I have had sleep apnea for some years before that.

Only to update.
I have now got my cataract surgery with multifocale lenses.
The surgery was "peace of cake" (10 minutes per eye), and my vision is now completely normal. Almost like when I was young.
Of course there are some drawbacks - especially in the beginning, where lights glare is a problem. But gradually subside this, and today this is no problem.
