I have been watching the reviews here on the Swift FX and was very anxious to try it. When I asked for it at the DME, the tech said, Oh yeah, you must be on the internet, there is a lot of buzz about it!  She said results were very positive and I would like it.  She also said there was a 30 day return for it--I was surprised, I have not had that option before.

I have been using it for @ 10 days now, and although it is very comfortable, there is some room for improvement, at least for me.  I was previously using the Swift LT for Her.

First, in my opinion it is sized for a large (man's) head (not a female's), much like the Swift LT; the cheekpiece length is not adjustable, so the back strap tees way above my ears and it is constantly sliding off the top of my head.  I have tightened top and back straps, and that just makes my nose sore, it doesn't help keep it on. I certainly hope they follow the Swift LT and make a smaller version--there was a world of difference between the LT and the LT for Her. As it is, I don't want to rig some kind of strap under my ears..but it seems inevitable if I want to keep it on my head at night. When I used the Swift LT, I would stick my hand inside one cheek, to take up the slack, and I did that last night on the FX, to take up the slop..

Second, it is very flexible.  This is good, as it is very soft, and does not have the stiff pillow holder, like the Swifts, that caused the mask to bow out if you were a side sleeper..but this is bad, as it really increases the slipperiness and causes it to slide around a lot. I have medium length hair and in the morning it is a chore to comb all the tangles out of it from the strap moving all over. (note to self--tonight will put hair into a knot, and see if can anchor band under it to lessen the slippage)

Third, the cheek pads are a polyester-knit deal, again, very slippery..wonder why they changed from the soft fuzzy ones on the LTs?  I am going to put my fuzzy pads on to see if that helps stabilize it a little.

Now for the good things..it is nice and soft, it feels much better on the face that the Swift.  I like the poly/plastic cheek strap, it is soft and light and you hardly feel it.  The whole deal is a lot lighter than the Swifts.  But it could really benefit from an adjustment option to be able to shorten the cheekpiece below the side strap attachment...just a suggestion!

I don't know how they did it, but it is MUCH quieter than the Swift. On the Swift you had to keep it from blowing on your hand or the pillow as it sounded like sleeping with Darth Vader..the noise with the FX is minimal, even if I have my hand under it..and hubby isn't complaining about the cold air blowing on his neck any more, either!

I really like how it flexes to my face when I'm sleeping on my side, without causing leaks. Although I am having the sliding problem, I am still waking up less often than with my leaky Swift.

I do miss the swivel feature that the Swift has, the FX would fit better if I could adjust the angle, but the pillow is so soft that it is still more comfortable than the Swift with the swivel.

Sorry for going on at such length, as several of you have tried the FX already and commented, but I wanted to get my two cents in in case Resmed is reading this forum!

Kinda like Judy, lol

what a comprehensive, helpful review. i, as well as many others i'm sure, are truly grateful to have the benefit of your thoughts on the Swift FX.
An update--
After all my analysis above.....I saw on the ResMed site a few days ago, the FX does come separately in sizes for women and men!!
Not sure if there has been gender sizing from the start, and my DME just didn't know about it..or if it is a recent development (due to my post, undoubtedly!).

In any event, the men's FX that I have is still working much better than the Swift LT, but next time I will definitely be asking for the ladies' size...
